PTE Write Essay template (2026): structure, sample & tips
A four-paragraph essay template that scores on Content, Form, Grammar and Vocabulary — with phrases and word-count rules.
Rules first
200–300 words, 20 minutes. Staying in the word range protects your Form score; going outside it is penalised heavily.
Template (4 paragraphs)
- Introduction: paraphrase the topic + a clear thesis stating your position.
- Body 1: first reason + an example or explanation.
- Body 2: second reason (or the other side) + example.
- Conclusion: restate your position and summarise your two reasons.
Useful phrases
"There are several reasons for this…", "For instance…", "On the other hand…", "In conclusion, I believe…". Use them lightly — over-templated language limits your Vocabulary score.
Write about the real prompt. A polished template with off-topic content still scores 0 on Content.
