1. Sample Text 1 — Climate Change and Oceans

The oceans absorb approximately thirty percent of the carbon dioxide released by human activities. As CO₂ dissolves in seawater, it forms carbonic acid, lowering the ocean’s pH — a process known as acidification. This threatens marine organisms that build calcium carbonate shells, including corals, oysters, and some plankton. The consequences cascade through food webs, ultimately threatening fisheries that millions of people depend on for food and income.

Incorrect words — audio says: “twenty” not “thirty”; “reducing” not “lowering”; “billions” not “millions”

Show Answer

See italic note above.

2. Sample Text 2 — The Water Cycle

The water cycle is the continuous movement of water through Earth’s systems. Solar energy heats water on the surface of oceans and lakes, causing it to evaporate into the atmosphere. As water vapour rises, it cools and condenses around tiny particles to form clouds. When clouds accumulate sufficient moisture, precipitation falls as rain or snow, replenishing rivers, lakes, and underground aquifers.

Incorrect words — audio says: “warms” not “heats”; “particles” matches; “enough” not “sufficient”

Show Answer

See italic note above.
